I feel the need to respond to an article I just read. I’m not very familiar with the author of the article or the True Blood series they are comparing The Twilight Saga too, but some of the statements this writer makes regarding Bella and The Twilight Saga’s story are just wrong and misleading. It’s really a shame people can get away with posting their opinions as facts like this.

You can give the story a read for yourself Here and below are some of the bogus statements debunked.

“In “New Moon,” a distraught Bella contemplates suicide”

That is completely the opposite of what happens in the book. Bella does feel like she’s dying inside, but keeps herself together because she could never hurt Charlie like that. And she made a promise to Edward she never would. In fact I think she makes it pretty clear how she feels on the suicide issue when Edward & her are watching Romeo & Juliet and he reveals that he considered committing suicide when he thought she might be dead at the hands of James. Bella rationalizes the situation by saying he wouldn’t want her to commit suicide if she thought he were dead, right?

“He [Jacob] gets kicked to the curb for his efforts as soon as Edward pops back into the picture”

To say that Bella just pushes Jacob aside when Edward returns is almost laughable because this writer clearly didn’t read the saga. First – Jacob and Bella are just friends! Jacob may want something more out of it, but Bella has made it very clear that is all they are – even going as far as wishing he was her brother. Secondly – Even when Edward returns she goes to extreme measures to try and remain friends with Jacob. Despite all the hostility between the two men and the struggle to please them both she makes it work – she is devoted to Jacob as a friend – she is well aware he brought her out of her misery after Edward’s departure and she doesn’t take that for granted.

“Subservient ‘Twilight’ heroine a terrible role model for pre-teen girls”

This women says this comparing a normal girl who falls in love with a vampire and a girl with the ability to read people’s mind falling in love with a vampire? It’s comical to call either of them a better role model. No matter how much we’d like these love stories to be true the reality is they are fantasy… last time I checked vampires didn’t exist… and a person with the ability to read people’s mind – yeah sooooo realistic… that definitely makes her a better role model *sarcasm*. Honestly this statement is just ridiculous.

Who sits around and compares two fictional characters like this? What was the purpose of this article again? Seems like someone just wanted to hate on all the Twilight glory if you ask me – this was an article not worth being written – find some better content next time.

Peace & Love – Sarah
